Aviom A-16II
The A-16II Personal Mixer is an updated version of the original A-16 Personal Mixer,
part of the Personal Monitor Mixing System. The A-16II Personal Mixer features newly
designed higher voltage and higher current output circuitry. The new output design
allows even high impedance headphones to be driven louder and cleaner. It also provides
cleaner transient response to the entire range of output devices.
A new plug auto-detect circuit at the output determines whether the device plugged
into the A-16IIs audio out jack is mono or stereo. This prevents shorting out one
side of the mixers stereo output electronics and makes it easier for the user to
implement mono devices with the Personal Monitor Mixing System. When a mono plug
is detected in the output jack, the circuit automatically pans the right channel
information so that the individual channel balance remains accurate.
Several new software enhancements have been added in response to input from users
around the world. A new solo mode, called Held Solo, allows the user to remain in
Solo mode and make channel selections without returning to Mix mode. A Global Trim
function provides an easy way to decrease the volume by 6dB on all sixteen mixer
channels simultaneously by using a simple button combination. Also, the A-16II Personal
Mixer now has the ability to display the last selected mix Preset, a handy way to
help the user when updating and saving Presets.
The A-16II Personal Mixer is compatible with the new AVIOM16/o-Y1 Yamaha Output Card,
an expansion card for Yamaha digital mixers supporting the mini-YGDAI format. The
AVIOM16/o-Y1 card allows Aviom A-16II Personal Mixers to be directly connected to
the Yamaha digital consoles.
In addition to these hardware and software updates, some new cosmetic enhancements
have also been added. A new writing surface, or scribble strip has been designed
that gives the user more room for channel names and also allows for standard ½-inch
masking tape to be used on the mixer. Text on the new label has been re-arranged
and now includes button combination information for the Global Trim function as well
as clearer labeling of the Bass and Treble tone controls.
The Personal Monitor Mixing System allows the performer to create a custom monitor
mix tailored to his/her individual needs. Designed for use in live performance or
in the studio, the Personal Mixer gives each performer control over channel volume,
grouping, pan, stereo spread and master volume. Each and every Personal Mixer in
the system can create a unique monitor mix for a performer. Users can save and recall
up to sixteen custom mixes as presets in their Personal Mixer. The stereo output
from the Personal Monitor Mixing System can be used to drive floor wedge monitors,
in-the-ear monitors, headphones or spot monitors.
The new A-16II Personal Mixer is fully compatible with all existing Personal Monitor
Mixing Systems and with Avioms AN-Series of Distributed Audio Network products. As
with all Aviom A-Net"! compatible products, cable runs of up to 500 feet (150 meters)
are possible between devices.
